TYPE APPROVAL EC94/20
Type approval EC94/20 was first introduced under european law on the 1st January 1998,
and was effective in the UK in August 1998. ALL LIGHT PASSENGER VEHICLES MANUFACTURED AFTER THIS DATE MUST BE
FITTED WITH TOWBARS THAT CONFORM TO EC94/20
The aim of type approval EC94/20
was to standardise the design and manufacture of towbars.

Types
Flange
- Flange ball type with 2 hole mounting plate for fixed tow ball height (seperate towball)
Swan - Swan neck type with fixed neck and ball,
can be welded to the cross bar or bolted (depending on makes and models)
Detachable - lockable and demountable neck and ball
Towball Types
Standard - Caravan and
trailers without Al-ko hitch
Al-ko - Caravans with Al-ko hitch
Light ball and pin
